Growing up in North Hollywood, California, I saw firsthand the value of hard work and dedication. I learned that there are many different paths to building a successful career, and skilled trades are some of the most important opportunities available to those who are willing to put in the effort. Today, as the CEO of Most Valuable Plumber, I have the privilege of working with talented professionals who bring skill, commitment, and pride to their work every day.

One of the things I believe strongly is that we need to continue encouraging the next generation to explore opportunities in skilled trades. These careers provide the chance to build valuable skills, create financial stability, and develop a meaningful profession. However, young people need guidance and support to understand what these opportunities can offer.

The Power of Having Someone to Look Up To

Mentorship can have a lasting impact on a person’s life. Sometimes, all someone needs is a person who believes in them, challenges them, and helps them see what they are capable of achieving.

I have experienced the importance of mentorship through different parts of my life. In sports, coaches teach more than just the fundamentals of a game. They teach discipline, teamwork, accountability, and how to overcome challenges. As a coach for youth football and basketball, I have seen how much confidence young athletes gain when they have someone encouraging them and helping them grow.

The same principles apply in business and skilled trades. A young person entering the workforce needs more than technical training. They need people who can teach them how to communicate, solve problems, work as part of a team, and take pride in what they do.

Skills are important, but character and work ethic are what help people build long-term success.
